Greetings from downtown Mankato. A rare sight with MSU playing some home games.
Three of their final four series are in Mankato -- this weekend, next against Huntsville and the last week against Tech. In between they have an off week and go to Lake Superior
Then they'll have the first round of the WCHA tournament, likely here.
Three EST games going on now. Ferris leads NMU 3-1 in the 2nd, Tech is up 1-0 on Huntsville in the 2nd, Lake Superior and Anchorage are tied 1-1 after 1
Sure looks that way at the moment.
BSU starters: Walsh, Bedan, Prapavessis, Ward, Gerbrandt, Mattson
MSU starters: Huggins, Jutzi, Foguth, Margonari, Grant, McInnis
Good first shift by Bemidji. MSU can't clear, eventually ices the puck. Starters stay on the ice.
Just a note about MSU's lineup. Jordan Nelson remains out after taking the puck off the head last week. Josh Nelson is back in the lineup after missing last Saturday.
Nelson is playing hurt. Curious to see if he can put together back-to-back games.
Well, if all you follow is the Pairwise, that's true. If you're following MSU trying to win a MacNaughton Cup, it's a little different, no.
And part of what you say is their own doing based on their nonconference and road performances.
Good rush by Margonari and Grant
Bemdiji ices the puck after some good pressure by the Stepan lin
Big blast by Huntebrinker is saved. He's still looking for his first college goal and point.
Chris, UAH was going to cut the program two years ago. Then it was saved at the last minute, which was good except their best goalie transferred and they didn't have a recruiting class. And they didn't have a conference. They're now on their third coach in as many years. It will improve with some stability.
Best chance so far for Bemidji's Kinne, who takes a turnover in 1-on-1. Huggins makes the save.
Stern has a good stick to break up a 2-on-1 down low and almost puts the puck in his own net. Heads up by Huggins.
9:40 left in the period. MSU leads the shots 8-5. Still scoreless.
Well, we can go back and forth on that. He only got the opportunity because UAH was dropping it's program. He agreed to transfer in the time between that announcement and when they found a way to save the program.
Bemidji strikes first. Keeps the puck in zone, has an open guy down low for a one-timer.
It's happened a few times that MSU hasn't been able to clear the zone
Now a big Walsh glove save on Blueger at the other end.
Boarding penalty coming on Lehrke now.
Great PKing by Chase Grant, takes the puck down the ice 1 on 3 and holds it on the wall for several seconds, then gets a turnover that almost leads to a scoring chance.
